-----GM----- Wire Nest, Phoenix, and their friends make their way up and out of the Consilium. It's gotten late - the sun is low in the sky, which is striated with grey to represent Wire's pensive, uncertain mood.
-----Valerie----- Quite a few questions added to the mix. A few answers, though, so she's at least satisfied that it went well.
-----Valerie----- She doesn't leave the Consilium, though, more intent on seeing if there are night owl Guardians to talk to for her pet project.
-----GM----- Arielle does. She checks for messages. "Looks like my kung fu services could be used. I'll catch up later, sis~" She pecks her cheek.
-----Valerie----- "Go kick ass." She smiles up at her. "I'll text you once I'm back home."
-----GM----- She waves, trotting off. "Your sister just wanders off to do martial arts."
-----Valerie----- "Magic martial arts," she corrects, raising a finger sagely.
-----GM----- Honey shakes her head, grinning.
-----GM----- "And I thought you were all just wizards."
-----Valerie----- "I'm a crafter - or, well, aspiring to be more of one anyway. She's a warrior, an Adamantine Arrow, the pentacle's version of cops. The Guardians of the Veil would be Internal Affairs." She wanders on in to begin making the rounds. Café and library seem like good starts - unless there's someone at the front desk, anyway.
-----GM----- Looking in, she finds she's quite fortunate, in fact. She sees Rook, the self-possessed young woman who spoke to her after the incident of Ethan's return. She's speaking with Xihe in one of the sitting rooms near the cafe.
-----Valerie----- Does it look like business talk?
-----GM----- It's hard to say. Rook seems like Always Business, at least in the two times she's met
-----Valerie----- Well, least she can do is say she wants to chat. If it's business, she can go make her and her friends some coffee until they're done. She knocks on the door.
-----GM----- They turn their heads, Xihe glancing over at her. "Oh, hey Wire - how'd the summoning go?"
-----Valerie----- "Better than I could hope. A few questions answered, many, many more raised up. Sorry, I don't mean to interrupt for long, I was hoping for consultation on the Guardian side of things when there's time for it."
-----GM----- "Rare it is that people think to consult with us before a couse of action, if at all," Rook says, her smooth black hair swept back into a clean bun.
-----Valerie----- "Weelll, it's a delicate, very Free Council-y sort of idea, and I want to do it right and make it work."
-----GM----- "Now I'm simply filled with anticipation."
-----Valerie----- Val gives her a glance over, unsure if she's being sarcastic or serious. "Essentially, I want to start a second YouTube Channel, where I go over basic tutorials about magic - the real stuff. Cosmology of the astral, the arcana, demos... For mages who don't know my arcana who are curious about them, or for those who don't practice, or just those looking to be entertaining. It's my job, y'know?"
She smiles. "The rub, though, is that it risks a lot of quiescence, so I'd want to get an opinion on how to, like... gate the channel from Sleepers, and either prevent Sleepers from being damaged by it, or only let mages, sleepwalkers, changelings, werewolves - ...vampires, I dunno, maybe they'd like it - and ilk access it. Problem is, I don't really know how."
Not without imperial magic, but 'baby's first magic youtube channel' seems a waste of Heimarmene's magic.
-----GM----- "I strongly recommend against spilling our secrets willy-nilly to the other supernaturals." She glances over at Honey, pursing her lips. "I suppose in a sense it is no worse than Sleepwalkers."
-----Valerie----- "Certainly won't be talking politics and organization... Just the Truth."
-----GM----- "It is a violation of the Pentacle's laws to disseminate knowledge of magic among Sleepers, so be careful. As for how - well, you have surely heard of the Guardians' labyrinths by now. Normally, we tend to such things in person. We assess the nature of the soul of each person, but our first defense is lies that conceal the truth."
-----GM----- She sets her cup down, folding her hands.
-----GM----- "The Labyrinths are so-named because they require wisdom and reason to navigate. We create cults of lies that hint at the truth, and those obsessed enough to care will penetrate them."
-----Valerie----- She laces her fingers together and listens intently with a few nod of understanding.
-----GM----- "It actually may be the Mysterium you want to talk to. They have experience building systems that can only be accessed by the worthy."
-----GM----- "Because of course, they conceal information."
-----Valerie----- "Yeah, can't really have a Guardian moderate a youtube channel like that.. But was important to ask. I'll give Cronos a text to see if he can't recommend someone."
-----GM----- "Getting a computer to cast a Supernal Vision spell over that distance would be difficult. I don't know enough Space or Forces myself to guess at how difficult."
-----Valerie----- "Would be nice to have an autonomous agent to do it. Like a spirit or something."
-----GM----- "Spirits can't meaningfully distinguish them, unfortunately."
-----Valerie----- "Drat... Mysterium it is, then." Hopefully they have a solution. This is really cramping her style.
-----GM----- "I suspect that they'll say much the same. They need much more intense security than you're looking for, I think - the Supernal vision method may be your best bet if it can be done. I'd speak to a Forces and Space expert."
-----Valerie----- "I'll do that. Thank you for your time, Rook." She inclines her head.
-----GM----- "Quite all right, Wire. One day I'll need to hear the full story of your mysterious origins."
-----Valerie----- "I'll gladly tell it, once it's not so disjointed and incomplete."
-----Valerie----- "Too much guesswork right now."
-----GM----- Xihe gets up.
-----GM----- "I can hook you up with some people, if you'd like."
-----GM----- "I have to get back to work anyway."
-----Valerie----- "I'll gladly take any help you can provide." She beams at her.
-----GM----- The Chinese-American woman offers her a smile in turn. "I understand I have you to blame for increasing my workload tonight."
-----Valerie----- "Whatever do you mean?" she bats her eyelashes innocently.
-----GM----- "I don't think Lakshmi's been on a date in my lifetime!"
-----Valerie----- "My dad's a charmer!" She giggles. "But yes, I am totally to blame."
-----GM----- "Word is spreading about how you created a Proximus dynasty," she says, glancing over at Sirona.
-----GM----- Who blushes and smiles
-----Valerie----- "Yeah, that... was a little weird and intense." She smiles at Ash as well. "But a pretty good outcome, considering the circumstances."
-----GM----- "Hurt like you wouldn't believe," she intimates.
-----GM----- "Do we have a name for it? We should put it into the rolls," the mage asks
-----Valerie----- "Still sorry about that. But the lie is pretty pervasive. And, uhm... Don't think it has a family name, or hasn't in many years, I think. It's hazy at best. .. but I think they were Araqielite by title even then."
-----GM----- "Kinda like Israelite," Honey observes, swishing her tail. "It means 'Tribe of Araqiel.'" She blushes as the others look at her. "What? I went to an evangelical school."
-----Valerie----- Valerie giggles. "So be it, then. Welcome to the tribe of Araqiel, Sirona, until your soul outgrows it."
-----GM----- "I might be the last for a while when I do. I sure hope I'm not havin' children by the time I'm a mage!"
-----Valerie----- "Wouldn't say it'd be usual for the child's sense of identity, anyway."
-----GM----- "One never knows where the universe is taking us," Xihe says "Of course, I say that as an Acanthus who can tell the universe quite well what I want it to do."
-----Valerie----- "You can't keep your finger on the button forever, so things will slip you by. That's the inevitability of the universe!"
